Everything You Need To Know In One Place –
E3 is referred to as the busiest week in gaming and for good reason with 2016 being no exception. Not only were enhanced consoles announced, new IPs and sequels have flooded the floor of the LA Convention Center. To make things easy, we have compiled a list of the most important news tidbits that you will probably want to take note. Unfortunately, we simply cannot cover it all but this should be a half way decent place to start.
Bethesda:
- Dishonored 2 was heavily promoted with trailers and demos
- Bethesda announced that the rebooted Doom has be selling well and seen critical acclaim. Add-on content is planned.
- Fallout 4 is getting additional add-on content and will be coming to VR.
- Fallout Shelter has been commercial success and also will be coming to PC
- Prey has been announced and completely rebooted
- Skyrim is being remasted for currently consoles and PC
- The Elder Scrolls Online continues to receive updates
- The Elder Scrolls: Legends is an upcoming card game based on the hit franchise
- Quake Champions sees the return of this fast paced FPS
Ubisoft:
- Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a new VR game in the works
- Trials of the Blood Dragon mixes Trials with Far Cry Blood Dragon
- For Honor is a new IP set to release on Valentine’s Day in 2017
- Steep is a new open world action sports game
- South Park: The Fractured But Whole looks hilarious and will come with a free copy of Stick of Truth with special pre-order offer
- Watch Dogs 2 has been announced and DLC will hit PS4 first
- Ghost Recon Wildlands arriving in March 2017
Microsoft:
- Announced new Xbox One consoles: One S and Project Scorpio
- Halo Wars 2 was announced a free open beta is currently live on Xbox Live
- Gears of War 4 was promoted heavily and sees the return of Marcus Fenix in a trailer
- State of Decay 2 and Forza Horizon 3 also saw decent screen time
- Xbox Play Anywhere features cross buy with Xbox One and PC
- Xbox Live is getting upgraded with a few new features such as Clubs that easily connects you to like minded gamers
- Recore is a new IP that sorta-kinda looks like it might Microsoft’s Metroid-ish
- Cortana is coming to Xbox One
- Users can order custom Xbox One controllers online to mix-match color schemes
Sony:
- The Last Guardian is actually coming out in 2016
- The Vita is pretty much dead
- Playstation Neo, like the new Xbox consoles, is an updated version of the PS4 and will featured 4K
- God of War is returning and features an old, father-figure Kratos mentoring a young son
- Resident Evil 7 looks like a new Silent Hill
- Playstation VR has a release date in October
- Batman Arkham VR was getting positive attention
- Final Fantasy XV was shown and featured some summon spells. It is also coming to VR put reviews of this demo have not been positive
- CoD is getting a remastered version of Modern Warfare and Infinite Warfare was a major highlight
- Crash Bandicoot is coming to Skylanders
- Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s new project that featured a totally WTF trailer featuring a naked Norman Reedus, a pool of oil, and a baby
- Spider-Man PS4 has been announced, will be exclusive to the console, and not related to any movie tie-in
- The Playstation VR gun controllers looks a little goofy
Nintendo:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks awesome but is the only playable game at E3 this year
- Nintendo announced the NX console will launch in March of 2017 but didn’t release any details which is really strange. The new Zelda will also launch on NX.
- Miitomo has hit 10 million downloads and Nintendo released free Zelda items
- The new Pokemon games received plenty of video time during their live stream
- Nintendo continues to neglect Intelligent System’s Advance Wars series (probably too busy with Fire Emblem these days)
- Wave 2 of the Mario Party amiibos have been announced and will launch in Nov of 2016. These amiibo include Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Rosalina, Boo (which will glow in the dark), DK, and Diddy. Each of these will feature the red bases.
- Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be getting three amiibos: Archer Link, Rider Link, and the Guardian. The Guardian will be the first amiibo to have movable parts. The Wolf Link amiibo will also work with the new Zelda.
- The Cloud, Bayonetta, and Corrin amiibos were surprisingly absent
- Paper Mario: Color Splash will launch on Wii U in Oct 2016
- Mother 3 and a new Star Tropics were also not announced
- Pokemon Go, a smart phone game, can be played with a physical Pokeball
Other:
- Mass Effect Andromeda was announced from EA
- Titanfall 2 releases in Oct and features a new grapple hook ability
- Stardew Valley is coming to consoles
- Gwent, the card game from Witcher 3, is getting its own release
- Telltale reminded everyone that the episodic Batman game is on the way
- Mafia 3 got a big trailer
- Scalebound received mixed reception
- Dead Rising 4 was announced
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is playable
- Natsume showed off a new Harvest Moon, Wild Guns: Reloaded: and a new River City Random title
- Final Fantasy XII is getting remastered
- Minecraft updates will allow cross-platform play
