You know what sucked about Halo: The Master Chief Collection? Pretty much everything. 343 Industries released a broken game that had numerous issues including a completely broken online matching making system. They tried (and are still trying) to fix everything through required patches but these mandatory updates are filling precious hard drive space and still are not fully working. It sucks that the modern gaming environment makes it ok to distributor non-functioning material and gamers should not get excited over patches to fix issues.
As of way of saying “please don’t sue us with a class action lawsuit” 343 is trying to restore their reputation by offering the following items for free to users who played The Master Chief Collection before Dec 19th 2014. No release date has yet been given for this free content.
- 1 month of Xbox Live Gold
- Exclusive in-game nameplate
- Exclusive in-game avatar
- A free download of Halo 3: ODST remastered at 1080p/60fps
343 has also mentioned it still plans on brining the Halo 2: Anniversary map Relic as an additional free download along with an additional 10 episodes of Spartan Ops for Halo 4.
The Halo 5: Guardians beta is also right around the corner. Let’s hope 343 does their homework and doesn’t completely mess this up too.
So what do you think? Is this free content enough to satisfy your $60 purchase? Do you have faith that ODST and Halo 5 will run smoothly upon launch? Let us know in the comments below.
