Ankama Studio’s “Dofus” Goes Live

France’s Ankama Studio has announced that their tactical MMO, [i]Dofus[/i] went live in production on September 1, 2005. The publisher has stated that the title already has a player pool of 200,000 active users. In this whimsical, anime-flavored game, described as “midway between heroic fantasy and cartoon”, players explore a colorful, 2D world rife with monsters, quests and adventure. Players can choose the role of a hero or a bandit while playing one of 22 separate character classes.

Ankama is encouraging new players to try the game free of charge for seven days by downloadng the game client from their web site. Additional play time can be purchased on a monthly basis.
