ATi announced today the introduction of their Radeon X700 series of graphics boards. The boards, which include the X700, X700 Pro and X700 XT cards, will start at the suggested retail price of $149 for the basic card.
The X700 series is based on the same architecture as the company’s X800 series, but features 8 pixel pipelines, 6 vertex shaders and GDDR3 memory with core and memory clock speeds being the only difference. The cards will be available in 128MB and 256MB editions, and have already begun shipping.
For the moment, these cards are only out for PCI-Express motherboards, but an AGP version has been confirmed and will be out at some point in the future.
