Hudson Entertainment announced that they are releasing an all-new Bomberman game for the Xbox Live Arcade. The game is expected to launch this summer. This new Bomberman title promises to feature the same classic gameplay elements that fans have grown to love over the years while adding an 8 player multiplayer mode, full character customization while being displayed with high def graphics.
Through the use of Xbox Live, Bomberman Live will support 8 players online while 4 can play locally. With the customization options, it will be possible to create a character with over 10,000 combinations.
"This has been one of our most requested games, our fans have been clamoring for it, and we are thrilled to finally be able to deliver the game they want," said John Greiner, President of Hudson Entertainment. "As our flagship series, Bomberman has been hailed as the best multiplayer game ever created. Now that Xbox LIVE Arcade delivers a truly worldwide multiplayer gaming platform, we can at last bring to market a Bomberman game that represents our long-term vision of the brand."
Bomberman was originally released in the US in 1987, has developed more than 60 iterations on pretty much every machine capable of playing games, sold over 10 million units, and has also won awards for its highly entertaining multiplayer mode. The top-down perspective makes the game easy enough for any demographic of gamer but offers enough challenge and addictive qualities to keep gamers coming back for more. The goal is to detonate bombs and take out your opponents while picking up upgrades. Simple, but fun.
No price point has released yet, but one could assume it will sell for either 400MS points ($5) or 800MS points ($10).
