Francisco Guterrez aka “Captain Jack” ( “Drill Instructor” ) died at the age of 43. The good-mood singer, who sold over seven million records, collapsed on Monday at a party in Palma de Mallorca. He was taken to the hospital “Juaneda” with the suspicion of stroke. He fell into eternal sleep on Friday without ever regaining his consciousness, according to his ex-wife, Aniela Schaefer.
The drama around “Captain Jack” started at a party at Palma. The native-born Cuban, wearing his signature dance commander uniform, grasped at his chest and collapsed. Siegfried Blau, a good friend, said, “It was awful. We called the ambulance right away. But Franky wasn’t transportable. He lay on the terrace for a hour, while the paramedics battled for his life.”
Three years ago the singer suffered a crippling stroke. He had a hemiplegia and could barely speak. “Of late Franky had a lot stress, was traveling around, had a lot of gigs”, said his manager Niebergall. “Despite having high blood pressure… he didn’t
take his medication.”
His hits won’t be forgotten. This year marks the 10th anniversary of his music that has arned the group 19 gold and platinum records throughout Europe and various music games including the most recent, DDR EXTREME 2.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the friends and family of our dear Captain, Francisco Guterrez, who we all knew and loved as Captain Jack.
