Well this game comes from MTV’s Celebrity Death match as you may have all ready guessed. The idea being that you get to play as different Celebrity’s and pit them against each other with some funny and not so funny consequences.
Graphics
Well like 90% of games based around some sort of TV show the game relies on the show its self and takes a great deal of samples from the show. Bluntly put, The graphics suck big time in this game. Lots of clipping and lots of mistakes were made in Celebrity Death Matches production. The models are chunky and outright rubbish. It certainly looks to me as though this game was rushed out to the shop shelves as quickly as possible, But like I said, this is reminiscent of most TV-to-game rip offs. Personally, I think if a lot more thought had gone into polishing off the graphics alone, this game would have been a hit big time.
Game Play
This game is one of those games that is fun to play with your drunken mates on a Friday night, but certainly not a game to play while you’re by your self in a suicidal mood. The game play sucks like no other game you may have come across. There are some funny moments but they are few and far between. How much enjoyment you’ll get out of this game relies on whether or not you are a big fan of the TV series in hopes that you don’t mind them using out of date charters. A lot of the time you will find your self getting stuck on the ropes or the poles at ringside. Most of the moves are repetitive. There isn’t much choice in moves, and the final death move for each charter is the same over and over again. Any 6-month-old child just hitting the joy pad could easily win the match. It only took about two hours to finish off the whole game, which is a bit sad when you just forked out all that cash. One of the most annoying things about this game is the loading times. When you create your own character it takes forever to choose from a male or a female character. Also, when you win a match which takes about 30 seconds you then have to wait upwards to 30-50 seconds for the next screen to load.
Sound
The sound for the game is just like you’re watching it on TV. All the samples have been well done, and the voice-over for the Celebrity’s are well done too. That’s probably really the only upside to this game, ut then again it isn’t really that much to shout about.
Replay Value
There is no replay value for this game what so ever. Just when your drunk with you mates and fancy showing off the latest games and saying yes I was dull enough and rich enough to buy this peace of complete rubbish. Sorry, but if you would like a good replay, try just putting in the Sound of Music in your DVD player and looping Doh Ray Me over and over again ? it’s much more interesting.
Conclusion
If you like wasting your money and are a hardcore fan of Celebrity Death match on MTV then go buy the game. However, if you aren’t interested in either prospect, stay well away from this Title as you WILL be disappointed. Celebrity deathmatch sucks bigger than a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
