Club Nintendo October 2013 Summary

Probably Played It Before –

October 2013 is an interesting month for the usual 4 available digital downloads because most gamers have probably already played these games in one format or another.  Everyone has played Solitaire before, Zelda and Mario Kart are classics that most gamers probably experienced by now, and ThruSpace is essentially another clone of “make it fit” puzzle games.  However, if you have not yet played Zelda or Mario Kart, this is a great opportunity to experience some greats from the past.

Game #1 – Touch Solitaire (DSiWare)

Price – 100 Coins, originally $1.99

Availability – October 7, 2013 – November 3, 2013

Summary – Two versions of Solitaire, Spider and Klondike.

Opinion – Solitaire is on everything including your mobile phone, tablet, and computer. But if you need to play Solitaire on your 3DS…

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? –  Unless you need your Solitaire fix on your 3DS, your coins could be better spent elsewhere.

Game #2 – The Legend of Zelda (NES, 3DS eShop Virtual Console)

Price – 150 Coins, normally $4.99

Availability – October 7, 2013 – November 3, 2013

Summary – The legendary adventure game that started it all.

Opinion – You probably already played this game a million times but having it on your 3DS with save states makes the challenging and multidirectional quest more playable. Great music too.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins?   It could be dangerous to go alone without this.

Game #3 – ThruSpace (WiiWare)

Price – 150 Coins, normally 800 Wii Points ($8)

Availability – October 7, 2013 – November 3, 2013

Summary – It is like Hole-In-The-Wall but with Tetris-like pieces.

Opinion – This is most likely the one game you have not played available this month.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – If you can’t get your hands on the Virtual Boy version of Tetris, you might want to check out ThruSpace especially if you are tired of playing Hole-in-the-Wall with your Kinect.

Game #4 – Super Mario Kart (SNES, Wii Virtual Console)

Price – 150 Coins, normally 800 Wii Points ($8)

Availability – October 7, 2013 – November 3, 2013

Summary – The original kart racer that started it all.

Opinion –  Like Zelda, Mario Kart is a classic that needs to be played.

Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Mode 7 never really looked so good.
