Cooking Mama for Nintendo DS, has shipped more than 500,000 units to retail since its launch 11 months ago.
"We are excited by the sales performance of Cooking Mama as it reinforces Majesco's content and platform strategy," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing. "We look forward to further building the franchise while introducing new players to the fun and unique gameplay within Mama's kitchen."
Developed by Office Create and licensed from Taito, Cooking Mama has received several industry honors including: "Most Innovative DS Design of E3 2006" from leading video game website IGN; and GameDaily's "Nod Award," which called Cooking Mama "a fun DS game that uses the stylus to near perfection."
Cooking Mama challenges players to use the stylus as a master kitchen tool to cook 76 real world dishes ranging from pepperoni pizza to cabbage meat rolls. Under Mama's watchful eye, players must first prepare ingredients, then combine, cook and present the final meal all via the Touch Screen. Players can even "cool down" dishes by blowing
into the DS microphone and share their favorite recipes with friends via the DS wireless link.
Cooking Mama for the Nintendo DS complements Cooking Mama: Cook Off for the Wii(TM) home video game console. Majesco has recently announced the DS sequel Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends which it expects to release in its first fiscal quarter, and will be sharing details soon on the Wii(TM) console sequel expected this spring.
