Digital Bridges announced the appointment of Shigeru Ota as their new Vice President of Business Development today. Shigeru comes to the company by way of Nintendo Europe where he served as president, playing a big part in launching the original Game Boy in 1990. His main duty now will be to promote Digital Bridges’ connectivity technology and offer Japanese publishers access to the global market.
“From the earliest days of mobile gaming and entertainment, Japan has been an innovator and a global leader,” Shigeru said. “As the global market has grown, Japan has remained at the forefront of the industry in terms of penetration and technology. I look forward to helping Digital Bridges establish a dedicated and effective presence in the very important Japanese market, and further reinforcing and expanding its relationships with the leading companies in the Japanese entertainment and handset manufacturing industries.”
Digital Bridges CEO Brian Greasley is glad to have Shigeru on board, and hopes that they will be able to do well in the Japanese market.
“We’re delighted that Shigeru is joining us and are tremendously excited about having a person of his calibre and experience spearheading our entry into the Japanese market,” said Greasely.
