New York City’s Digitalife event will host more than just the newest consumer and entertainment technology this year with the inclusion of the Digitalife/GGL gaming tournament. The event, held in New York’s Jacob Javits Center on October 14-16, will include competitions for six different games. Players can register now for the online qualifiers held September 9-25, and five cities will host qualifier events on September 17-18: New York, NY; Irvine, CA; Indianapolis, IN; Gainesville, FL; and Dallas, TX. Gamers who qualify at these events win a two-day pass to Digitalife and a shot at the grand prizes:
Counterstrike: $30,000
Halo 2: $22,000
Unreal Tournament 2K4: $12,000
Warcraft 3: $12,000
Star Wars Battlefront 2: $10,000
Dance Dance Revolution: $5,000
Day one at Digitalife will be open qualification day for those who did not qualify or failed to qualify on previous dates. Day two will hold the top 16 elimination rounds, while day three will feature the finals and awards.
Digitalife is one of the world’s biggest technology events, showcasing over 100 exhibits from companies like Microsoft, Sega, Konami, Namco, eBay, EGM Magazine, Intel, TiVo, XM Satellite Radio, and more. The GGL is one of the world’s largest governing bodies for gaming competition, at both professional and amateur levels.
