If you own a smartphone there is a pretty good chance that you have played Doodle Jump, the endless vertical tilt controlled climber. The Doodler, however, has just jumped his/her/its way onto XBLA. The catch is that it uses Kinect. It is only 400 MS Points ($5) but that is still 4x-5x higher than playing it on a mobile device. Official press release:
Doodle Jump, the adorably addictive, best-selling “jump ‘em up” game from Lima Sky, is now playable on the big-screen TV. Developed in association with Smoking Gun Interactive and D3Publisher, Doodle Jump for Kinect brings the flagship franchise’s cherished mascot, whimsical art style, and vertically scrolling design to the Xbox Live.
“The original joy of Doodle Jump was that you could play it anywhere, anytime, thanks to its easy-to-use motion-based design,” remarked Lima Sky co-founder Igor Pusenjak. “Doodle Jump for Kinect interprets motion controls in a new way and makes it an incredibly fun group experience.”
Crafted specifically for Kinect for Xbox 360, Doodle Jump for Kinect blends the series’ traditional gameplay with a new and intuitive gesture and motion control system, delivering a completely unique play scheme that even veteran Doodle Jump fans will find fresh and engaging. It also adds a host of additional features, including three original worlds to scale, robust power-ups, and challenging boss battles and achievements. Together with its charmingly cartoonish characters and intuitive gameplay, Doodle Jump for Kinect is a play experience perfect for gamers of all ages.
Doodle Jump for Kinect is available now for download on Xbox Live as an arcade game for Xbox 360 for 400 Microsoft Points. It is rated E by the ESRB and requires Kinect for Xbox 360 to play.
