Despite having been officially announced by id Software, Universal has decided to move forward with its Doom movie adaptation. The producers have announced the arrival of a new director for the project, Polish director and former cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak. Bartkowiak’s resume is quite impressive, with such films as Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds to his name. The previous director, Enda McCallion, left the film for “personal reasons,” according to Variety magazine.
The film is currently slated for a 2006 release, and though no official casting announcements have been made, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has reportedly been offered the lead.
