Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Preview

call of duty infinite warfare preview

Introduction

Infinity Ward is taking players even further into the future with their latest game, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. While the basics have remained the same, Call of Duty has been changing a lot over the years. Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3 introduced players to some awesome futuristic technology and the gameplay was certainly enhanced, but now they’re taking us even further into the future, where you will fight in epic space battles.

Gameplay

Every fan of the series will appreciate something about this game, whether its the Campaign, Multiplayer or Zombies game mode, you’re going to like something.

Since Call of Duty is one of the largest game franchises and they never seem to miss a year, it is not shocking that Infinite Warfare has already suffered a ton of negative feedback from critics all over the Internet. So, if you enjoy playing a CoD game, ignore the NOISE – because it’s about time they make a more drastic change to the series.

The gameplay isn’t going to be much different from any other Call of Duty game, its still a first-person shooter.

However, unlike the previous games, this shooter will feature outer space combat and new gameplay mechanics, like zero-gravity environments, which are going to make Infinite Warfare unique from the other games in the series. This is going to be a fresh Call of Duty experience, that’s for certain.

You will play as Captain Nick Reyes, a Tier 1 Special Ops pilot, and you will get to fight using his transforming fighter, the Jackal. You will fight using the Jackal often, as this game focuses a lot on space combat.

According to Infinity Ward, the transition from space combat to boots-on-the-ground combat is “seamless”.

Just as there is a hub in Black Ops III for you to upgrade weapons and change your wardrobe, there is a central hub world called Retribution in Infinite Warfare. In Retribution you will be able to take on secondary quests to earn new items, start campaign missions and even launch raids on enemy ships.

With all the new features and gameplay mechanics featured in Infinite Warfare, one can only imagine how different the multiplayer experience is going to be. There is also a cooperative multiplayer Zombie mode with its own story and gameplay mechanics, so it’s definitely going to be worth buying if you’re a fan of the series.

Multi-planetary environments, futuristic weapons and new player abilities make Infinite Warfare a game you can’t ignore!

Campaign Mode

It would be interesting if they threw in an intelligent alien species as either an ally or enemy in the campaign mode, but so far we only know of other human enemies called the Settlement Defense Front, or SetDef for short. As mentioned before, you will play as Captain Reyes and lead the last of the coalition forces against SetDef.

SetDef is a group of insurgents who broke away from the United Nations Space Alliance years ago. Infinite Warfare depicts a stripped down planet Earth without any natural assets due to industrial expansion and rapid population growth.

Since our planet is out of resources, the people of Earth are now relying on colonies in the solar system to mine asteroids and other planets for resources. The SetDef is comprised of militant radicals seeking to control various outposts in the solar system and have complete control over the resources and wealth.

Multiplayer – Cooperative and Competitive

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is loaded with all the game modes we know and love, but this game will feature a much more innovative multiplayer experience than the previous titles. According to the developer, players will have a very rewarding experience if they properly utilize their surroundings, so the environments will definitely have an impact on your online battles.

Infinity Ward plans to deliver a terrifying experience with their Zombies mode, where players will get thrown into another adventure with new features and of course the same core mechanics that we expect.

Too Futuristic?

Infinite Warfare has been criticized heavily by the community, mainly because it’s set so far in the future and players believe it’s too futuristic for the series. Eric Hirshberg, Activision CEO, discussed this issue by saying “we also have millions of people in our community who want to have new innovative experiences in the game each year and Infinite Warfare is going to deliver that.” It will still feature that boots-on-the-ground gameplay we all know and love, but they’re attempting to do something new.

Shouldn’t we wait to experience the game for ourselves before we jump on the Infinite Warfare sucks bandwagon? Black Ops II experience a ton of negative feedback and dislikes when fans first heard about it, but it eventually went on to become the best-selling CoD game shortly after.

Conclusion

Infinite Warfare has a November 4, 2016 release date, and it will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.

If you’re a real Call of Duty fan you will be happy to hear that a remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is shipping with the Legacy, Digital Deluxe and Legacy Pro edition of Infinite Warfare. It will exciting for many of us to play the original Modern Warfare title remastered for our current-gen platforms, and we can thank Raven Software for making that happen. Modern Warfare Remastered will have the original campaign mode, but it will only have 10 multiplayer maps, instead of the entire 16 that the original game featured. Everything else is there, including weapons, game modes and killstreaks.

It’s about time the Call of Duty franchise has decided to make a drastic change, it was only a matter of time before they played out all the near-future scenarios and had to move further into the future, or past.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is coming just in time for the holidays and you can pre-purchase it on Steam for $59.99 today. The Legacy Edition is $79.99 and the Deluxe Edition is $99.99. Pre-ordering Infinite Warfare will get you the Terminal Bonus Map, which is from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, now re-imagined for current-gen platforms.
