After the smash hit DS title Animal Crossing: Wild World, Animal Crossing is coming back to consoles with Animal Crossing: City Folk.
At the Nintendo Summit in E3, a great video featuring lead designer Katsuya Eguchi detailed how City Folk looks to be a huge expansion on the Wi-Fi favorite with a significantly-expanded role in player interactions and more-responsive NPCs. There will be signifcantly more emphasis on inter-player communication, particularly with the "Wii Speak," a microphone which Eguchi stressed is not actually a microphone (but it is a microphone), which will be used when hanging out with your Animal Crossing buddies. Fils-Aime continued by saying that the game would hit by year's end.

UPDATE: Animal Crossing: City Folk was given a November 16 release date.
