Sony's London Studios is working on a unique addition to the PS3's game lineup. SingStar (working title) is a karaoke party game that will utilize the Eye Toy. SingStar will actually debut on the PS2, but the PS3 version is really the one that is going to get all the juicy features.
What makes SingStar interesting is that aspiring karaoke divas will get the chance to sing – almost – any song they want. The party game will be highly customizable. Players will be able to download the latest songs to create personalized playlists, and an array of downloadable menu skins will also be available. It looks like Sony will be putting out a heft number of songs for players to choose from, including being able to download the entire song catalogue of the PS2 version – more than 300 songs.
Karaoke fans can also record their own videos using the Eye Toy. Players will be able to share their awkward singing and dancing with other PS3 owning friends. Personal playlists and videos can be saved on memory sticks or stored on the PS3 hard drive. Videos and photos can also be uploaded to the PSP for a little humiliation on the go.
An official release date has not been given for either the PS2 or PS3 versions. SingStar looks to be a unique gaming experience. Stay with Mygamer.com and we'll keep you up to date.
