EA Begins Digital Distribution

EA has announced that they will chase Valve into the online digital distribution community. They will deliver full games, demos, game trailers, and existing game updates over the Internet to PC gamers worldwide.

[i]Battlefield 2: Special Forces[/i] will be the first game, available today, to take advantage of a new system offered by EA?s online distribution. PC gamers can pre-buy and pre-download the game, and on launch day ? Nov. 22 in North America ? the game can then be installed and ready to play.

?Digital distribution will keep content flowing to players, keeping their current EA games fresh and delivering new EA games quickly and conveniently,? said Chip Lange, vice president of EA Online Marketing.

The next game in EA?s online distribution lineup will be [i]The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack[/i], available for download Nov. 17 for $14.99. The expansion pack will include 40 holiday items from Christmas trees to New Year?s Eve fireworks.
