MyGamer has received word from Electronic Arts today that it will be featuring an online musical competition based on The Sims franchise. There is, however, a twist in this contest..you will not be singing in English, German, Spanish or indeed any other language that you were forced to learn at school. No, friends, in this game the language you will speaking is Simlish, which is the language that all Sims speak, and since this is the Simlish Contest that is to be expected. The song that contestants will recording is Smile-originally done by Lily Allen-which can be performed at http://www.singshot.com/SimsLily. At the site players will get to listen to the Simlish version of Smile that Lily did herself and, once they have done their own version, get comments from other visitors to the site and for each person to alter their composition with photos and videos which is all done in the SingShot online community. Allen herself will choose the top two entries; the first prize winner will receive a collection of prizes worth 1390 dollars cumulatively and the possibility to record a song in Simlish to appear in another Sims 2 release.
Allen offered these words on her participation in the Simlish Contest:"Recording 'Smile' in Simlish for The Sims 2 Seasons was a fun experience! Singing in Simlish encourages you to be creative and to indulge your sense of humor — two things I love doing in my music."Steve Schnur, EA's Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing, also stated that "The Sims games are among the most popular in the world, having sold more than 85 million games to date” and that “"Lily Allen is one of the most exciting new artists we've heard in quite a while, and we're proud of this opportunity to expose her to one of the biggest and most enthusiastic audiences imaginable. Unique new talent deserves the ultimate showcase, and Lily Allen and The Sims are the perfect fit.”
