It's time for you all to sit down in your chairs, grab your star studded battle hats, and prepare to deploy for the Third Tiberium War. It will be a great challenge, with many bases being made, many new friends spawned, and refreshments in the lobby afterward. For, today, Electronic Arts has shipped to stores it's latest chapter in the Command and Conquer which has been titled Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. According to our friends at EA, who are today represented by their Vice President and Executive Producer at EA's LA branch Mike Verdu, the company has “taken the mix of explosive action, deep strategy, and rich storytelling that sparked a genre to the next level”and also stating that the game is “returning to its roots in the Tiberium universe”
Players can lead the offensive as commander of either the tried and true Global Defense Initiative forces, or serve the curiously charismatic Kane in his Brotherhood of Nod, or branch out to serve in the as yet unrevealed faction the Scrin. VP Verdu added that “I can't wait for people to get their hands on this game." I'm sure the rest of you feel the same so I will sum the rest of this article briefly so you can all get on with it.
Besides the addition of a new faction there will be a single player campaign that has been redone to reflect the rapid gameplay of the game and the new nature of the war. You can also make your online skirmishes into a spectator event, but don't expect Pay Per View level just yet..you have to build up to these things. But while you are waiting you can immerse yourself in the story and the video sequences, both of which are promised to be a thrill, and the latter will also features a number of well known Hollywood talent that will be lending their voices and their acting skills in the in game sequences. Who will these be, do you ask? Well, I will tell you. The game will feature Tricia Helfer, Josh Holloway, Michael Ironside(if you don't know who he is then I cannot help you), Jennifer Morrison, Billy Dee Williams(Lando, Lando!) and Grace Park. Yes!
In addition Joe Kucan will be coming back to reclaim his role as Kane in the game and, to report on his deeds, actual television journalists will be appearing in the game to serve as anchors and reporters who will detail the progress of the war as the campaign advances. This gets better all the time! I'm not the only one who is excited, though..Tricia Helfer, who played the alluring Number Six in the revised Battlestar Galactica television show had this to say on her participation in the game “"When I realized that I wasn't going to be a computer-generated character, but playing a live action role in the C&C 3 game, I was really looking forward to see what was in store.” She also added that “I can honestly say that it was one of the most fun projects I've worked on."
All that is left to say now is that Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars is currently out in stores for the PC. There is also a special collector's edition, dubbed the Kane Edition which will feature a DVD containing a behind the scenes documentary, deleted scenes from the game and a blooper reel among other interesting additions. The game is currently only out for the PC, but in the future there will also be an Xbox 360 version made available.
