The Jacob Javits Center in New York City will be hosting the North American Regional tournament for the FIFA Interactive World Cup this weekend on Oct 30th. Gamers from all over America will be traveling to the event to compete in [i]FIFA Football 2005[/i] for the Xbox in the first FIFA sanctioned video game tournament ever.
The entire tournament lasts through October and November with the North American regional being the second of nine regionals.
“The overall winner of this new video game tournament will be honored on stage alongside the actual FIFA Player of the Year, and recognized as the FIFA Interactive World Player 2004 by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter at the FIFA World Player Gala in Zurich in December.”
Anyone may compete in the tournament, however those under 18 needs a written and signed consent form from a parent or guardian. The tournament will start at 10:00am and run till the finals at 5:30pm.
