Looks like dark days are ahead for former Humongous Entertainment and Hulabee Games founder Shelley Day. The former boss of both publishing companies (both focusing mainly on kids games) was recently convicted of defrauding the Asia Europe Americas Bank of Seattle of more than $1.5 million.
Shelley Day had secured a loan by claiming to be selling Hulabee Games to Vivendi Universal. Day first acquired the loan in an attempt to purchase a house worth $3 million. Her defense claimed that once games currently in development at Hulabee Games were finished and sent to market, she could get the money to repay the loan, but Judge Thomas Zilly rejected the plea.
Shelley Day formerly worked on such prestigious game titles as Monkey Island 2 and Super Boulder Dash. However, the prison she will be sent to will be nowhere near Monkey Island.
