Nintendo announced today that its Game Boy Advance SP handheld system will retail for $79.99 beginning tomorrow, September 2. Priced at about $20 less than what it currently sells for, this will be the first time the system will get a price cut since debuting last March.
The company also said that the new price strategy will coincide with the launch of their new “Start Mayhem” marketing campaign, in which several new available colors of the SP will be associated with different types of personalities. The drop, along with the campaign, should broaden the system’s audience.
The price cut also comes days before the release of the highly anticipated new installments of the Poke’mon franchise, FireRed and LeafGreen.
