The annual awards season is usually associated with Hollywood stars and the film industry, but on March 2nd, the Game Developer's Conference held their own awards to honor the best games of the last year with the Game Developer's Choice Awards. Two of the big winners of the night were Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, which racked up prizes for Game of the Year, Best Game Design, Best Audio and Best Technology, and the independently developed online game Minecraft, which won the awards for Best Debut Game, Best Downloadable Game, and Innovation. Other winners included Mass Effect 2 for Best Writing and mobile phone title Cut The Rope for Best Handheld Game. Titles honored at the Game Developer's Choice Awards were voted to their respective positions by game developers.
