DFC Intelligence, a market research firm focused on video games, has predicted major growth in the worldwide interactive entertainment market. David Cole, president of DFC Intelligence, said the next generation consoles should increase the worldwide game industry to the size of the worldwide recorded music industry by 2008. DFC Intel. expects the industry to grow from about $28.5 billion in 2005 to around $42 billion by 2010, a massive market wide growth in just five years.
Cole stressed that this growth would be due to much more than just next generation consoles, ?There is a growing portable business, and, contrary to some reports, the top PC games are making more than ever with the growth of online games and digital distribution.?
For Cole, the key to success in the gaming business is to recognize this growing diversity among markets.
