"Addictive and easy-to-learn, Gunpey was originally conceived by Game Boy(R) creator and legendary game developer Gunpei Yokoi. It has now been re-imagined by the creative minds at Q Entertainment in a perfect dream collaboration that should excite any hardcore gamer," said Naruo Uchida, NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc.'s Product Group Director. "This title embraces the signature touches of a product conceived by Yokoi. It is accessible, original, and intuitive, yet a challenge to master. Additionally, it combines the ground breaking music integration that has become Q Entertainment's signature."

What makes this story unique is due to the fact that Mr. Gunpei Yokoi died in October of 1997 from a fatal car accident. The video game industry would not be what it is today without his work. Yokoi was known best for developing the D-pad, the portable Game & Watch series, and the original GameBoy. He also created Nintendo’s Virtual Boy and developed the Wonder Swan under his own company. In March of 2003, he was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the Game Developer’s Conference.

Gunpey is a puzzle game like no other. Namco Bandai describes the gameplay: “as lines of various angles climb up the screen, the player's objective is to flip the lines, located in squares, to connect them over five columns. Connecting lines from left to right remove the connected row. If an incomplete line reaches the top of the screen, the game is over.”

If the name alone is not worthy enough to spark curiosity, then perhaps the 40 varied backgrounds, stylized music, and 2 player wireless ad-hoc is.
