The GSM awards, which were held last night at Barcelona's National Palace, produced a good result for I-ply as it's The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo earned the award Best Made for Mobile Game. I-play has excelled in this category before at the previous GSM awards competition when it won a similar award for Skipping Stone. This is not the only accolade the The Fast and The Furious: Tokyohas earned since it's initial release as last year IGN awarded the game it's Best Racing/Driving Game award.
The judges at the GSM Association Awards elaborated on their choice by stating that "This stood out for its universal attraction, intuitive design and sheer 'playability."
The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo was the result of an deal with Universal Studios Licensing but was developed and published solely by I-play. Upon it's release to the public the game was downloaded over a million downloads in a five month period. This impressive record of achievement is in keeping with the rest of the The Fast and The Furious chain which has been downloaded 6 and ½ million times in it's entirety.
The CEO of I-play, David Gosen, had these words to say about the award: "We're very proud of our Fast and Furious franchise and to have won the GSM Award for Best Mobile Game for the second year in a row is fantastic for the company, in particular for our development team who worked incredibly hard to create such an innovative game around the popular 'drifting' phenomenon. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo has been the biggest game launch in I-play's history to date and is unmatched by any other racing game on the mobile platform."
