Neverend (from Mayhem Studios) is a fantasy RPG that puts the player in a world populated by armored knights and fantastical fairies that do, well, whatever knights and fairies do. You do play a fairy, by the way, one that has been cast away from that no doubt happy group. The heroine of this tale is Agavaen, a fallen member of the fairy race, who must wander the land in an attempt to figure out her purpose in the world and, quite possibly, life in general, all while searching for overwhelming power. Don't worry, though… the power will only be used for good… or maybe it won't.
Neverend's game play focuses on making good versus evil choices, through which the player is allowed to determine where the main character (Agavaen), will end up spiritually. Will her banishment slowly embitter her, causing her to lash out the world around her with the spells at her command, or perhaps she will be more philosophical toward this entanglement and use it to better herself and others. Or, possibly, she just won't care and will go to the beach – it's up to you.
This process of self-discovery won't be an easy one. Remember that Agavaen is essentially no friend to anyone. She can't go back to her kind due to her banishment, and humans are both scared and frightened of her. Having nowhere else to turn, she has no choice but to join in with a gang of thieves. Even this turns out badly in the end, forcing Agavaen to continue with her rootless wanderings.
Neverend features an active time battle system that will be coupled with a moving camera that will switch around on it's own to give you the best view of the action. During these battles you will be able to use spells, weapons, or even hand to hand moves in a variety of combos, against enemies who often look quite nasty.
The rendered environments that Agavaen will make her way through look wonderful, bursting with fantastic 3D glory. In preview movies we've seen, forests look so real it's like you can feel the breeze, and even contain such small touches as butterflies. The stones that make up the fortified town seen in the trailer look weathered and aged. The people themselves are nothing to sneer at it either; humans, elves, and curious non-human life forms all move with an easy flowing motion that is really quite pretty to see (even if the motion in question is swinging an axe at somebody's head or launching a fireball).
The game will also come equipped with a 3D map to use as a reference in your journey, the purpose of which is for you to shepherd Agavaen through the various dangers and troubles that await her in the land of Neverland and help her to become an ancient fairy, as she once was, and so regain her former powers.
