EA and Criterion today announced the development of Burnout 5 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Burnout series has always been known for its intense sense of speed and wicked crashes, but Burnout 5 promises a brand new experience.
"Burnout 5 is a complete reinvention of the series, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," said Alex Ward, director of game design at Criterion Games. "To create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from top to bottom."
Paradise City will be a massive backdrop for seamless, open world, racing. Gone will be the menu structure of previous games. Instead, every street will be a raceway and every intersection a possible crash junction. Players will be given the freedom to burn where the want. As players rack up the destruction and moving violations they will be challenged by the cities top Burners.
EA and Criterion also promise the most explosive pile-ups in series' history, and a new level of speed. All powered by next generation technology. And yes, players will be able to rip their cars in half.
Burnout 5 will ship sometime in 2007. For more information on the brand new Burnout style stick with MyGamer.com
