If you are under age, get offended easily, or do not like to play crappy games, then stay away from this cheaply named title.
The Guy Game is designed for college bound young males. With a mix of You Don’t Know Jack and Girls Gone Wild, The Guy Game rewards players by displaying female body parts. The game design is quite simple and boring. Players are asked simple trivia questions about general knowledge like Sports, Music, or Movies. If the player gets the answer right, his score increases. This same question is then asked to a “Hottie.” If the Hottie gets it wrong, she must show her chest. After the player chooses the answer for the question, he then must pick whether or not the Hottie will get it right or wrong. If this second question is answer correctly, the Flash-o-Meter will increase. Once this Meter reaches the final stage, all the Hotties will show their breasts for the rest of the round and the player will get to play an extra bonus game in which all the Hotties compete in an activity like Topless Jump Rope.
This game is misleading. Upon reading and looking at the back of the game packaging, you would think that this is a trivia game where you will see lots of naked women. This is true, but only after you unlock game objectives and answer many questions correctly. This is just way too much work. When playing the main game, each Hottie will have the words “The Guy Game” censoring her breasts. After a certain number of correct answers have been given, the game’s title will be replaced by pixelation. Then, after answering many more questions correctly, the censorship will be completely removed. However, in order for the pixelation to discontinue, most of the game’s questions must be answered correctly with a high percentage of accuracy. Each round consists of about 12 questions and at least 10 must be answered to view what the player wants to see, boobs. Making the player work hard to see these girls topless might frustrate players. The amount of patience needed is enough to make the young males (the target audience) to turn off the game.
Linking the main trivia part of the game together are very simple mini games that involve “Ballz.” Each one of these games are better suited in Mario Party than a porno game. Ballz In is a mini game where the player plays as a ball and must shoot and grab other balls, soccer style. Ballz Out will have players trying to push small balls off the edge of the screen. And Ballz Shots closely resembles skeeball. While these games should be fun to play as a demo Flash game on the Internet, they do not fit the presentation of The Guy Game. Players of this game want to see naked women. They do not want to play simple ball mini games. Luckily, these games can be skipped in the main game if one so desires.
If the player manages to reach the final stages of the Flash-o-Meter, and achieves a high score, then pictures, movies, and more girls will be unlocked. This is the only incentive to play this game. This game is not fun, even with four people playing. The game play alone will not entice players to keep this game in their game system. The only reason to play this game is to see more boobs.
The game utilizes the Divx video compression so each movie looks and sounds very clear. However, the game’s interface needs work. Floating vertically in the background of every screen in the game are flowers that look like they came straight from the 1970’s. Like the stupid mini games, I don’t understand the place flowers have in this game. I’m sure that testosterone filled young adults really want to see floating flowers in the game’s background. I even saw these 3D models fly through and clip each other. This is just sloppy. The game’s music is also very basic and the host is annoying. Because this game offers so little in the gameplay, graphics, and audio department, I wanted to see how many people it took to make this game. After viewing the Credits, I noticed about 15-20 people created this game. It is sad to see this many people create a game that is so lacking.
Even after you play the game a few times through, you will notice that the FMV’s are all the same. The game has about 1,000 questions to ask the player, but all the video footage will remain unchanged. It seems like the game is short changing players by asking you a different question than the game’s video contestants.
The only goal in this game is to see boobies. While this idea might entertain some players, I feel that this game insults my intelligence by offering bland gameplay while offending people in the mix. Trying to pass this disc off as a game is an insult to video games. If you want to see naked females, then rent a porno. If you want to play mini games, play Mario Party or Wario Ware. If you want to play a trivia game, then play You Don’t Know Jack or Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Mixing all these elements into an Xbox game is ridiculous. Instead of making this game for Xbox (and PS2) I do not see why the developers did not just make this an interactive DVD. Because the game is menu driven, there are minimal button presses which any DVD player can handle.
This game is made just to show the female form and degrade women. F-bombs and references to sexual orientation are also uttered throughout the game. Do not get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with males celebrating the female form and parting, but this game is not the answer. Watch Girls Gone Wild if you want to see college women flash their chests and play a video game if you want to enjoy real time interactive simulation. Just do not play this game.
