Kingston Class 10 UHS-I microSDHC/SDXC Review

Faster Than Class 10 –

Even though Kingston has been making memory cards for years, the Kingston Class 10 UHS-I microSDHC/SDXC cards now boast a faster speed capable of handling HD video, 3D video, and even real time broadcasts without interruption.

The highlighting feature to focus on here is the higher speed. While Class 10 cards can handle full HD (1080p) video recording and consecutive recording of HD pictures (with compatible devices of course), the increased UHS Class 1 allows users to record real-time broadcasts and large HD video files via the UHS bus. Outside of recording 4K video files, this SD card should be able to handle whatever hardware you have. UHS Class 3 devices are recommended for 4K video recording but the average user probably won’t be doing this anyway. UHS-I speeds have a 90MB/s read and 45MB/s write speed for fast file transfers and continuous shooting.

This microSD card comes with a SD adapter to make use in full SD slots, adding versatility. This particular UHS-I card is available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB sizes and come with your typical FAT formatting. This 64GB model with SD adapter sells for around $50 depending on retailers.

The question to ask is, will the average user be able to take full advantage of this memory card? Probably not as a typical Class 10 should be able to suit the needs for most users. However, Kingston provides a low cost option for tech geeks and hardcore video nerds that are looking for a higher demanding storage solution. Doubters should also be at ease thanks to Kingston’s lifetime warranty on this product. Because of this, this card could potentially be one of the last SD cards you will ever have to buy. That is, until 4K becomes more popular and/or some new video format is invented.
