Kingston microSD Reader+Card Bundle Review+ eMusic

Those you who missed our review of Kingston’s microSD USB adapter + 1gb card bundle, it can be read here.  This small product contained a high level of reliability, functionality, and convenience.

Kingston now has taken this simple but very useful concept one step further.  Partnering up with eMusic.com, Kingston now offers this same microSD USB adapter + 1gb card combo with free Mp3’s as an added incentive.  This 1gb microSD card comes with 10 Mp3’s already on the card.  While I won’t list them all here, buyers can expect tunes from Ray Charles, the Gin Blossoms, and Yellowcard to name a few.

However, the real kicker is another 50 free downloadable Mp3’s from eMusic.com.  This offer is for new members only and requires a credit card to sign up.  It also should be noted that these 50 free songs are available only for the first two weeks of membership.  If you wish to cancel, you must do so after the free two week trial period.   The weblink to download these free tunes comes packaged with the unit.

For a retail price of $19.99, this eMusic bundle is your best bet.  Considering other music providers, such as iTunes, charges about $1.00 per song, the consumer will not only get their money’s worth with the high quality product itself, but will also get more bang for your buck just in free Mp3’s.

As stated in our previous review, these Kingston microSD cards and USB adapters offer high transfer speeds with reliable use.  And if there should ever be a problem, Kingston has an extensive warranty.

If you are considering buying a microSD card and want an easy way to transfer data, this Kingston product is a great choice.  And with more and more cell phones and PDA’s supporting Mp3 compatibility, the free Mp3 downloads only sweeten the deal even if you are not a fan of eMusic.  While the 10 free songs that come bundled on the card may not be the greatest selection in the world, most users will probably enjoy at least one or two of the songs thanks to the diverse music selection.

My only complaint about this product is that it is a little hard to insert and remove the microSD card from the USB adapter.  Because the tiny SD card fits so tightly within the USB adapter, prying the unit free takes a little bit of work and a strong finger nail.  And it is because of its size that the user will feel the need to be delicate, creating a moderately frustrating predicament.

Kingston has established itself as a dominate provider of digital media.  Check out their website for more info.  This product gets a thumbs up.
