Introduction
Mafia III is ready for launch and fans of the series will be able to purchase the third-installment on October 7, just a few weeks from now. The upcoming open world game is developed by Hangar 13 and will be published by 2K Games.
Are you familiar with the 60s? Well, Mafia III is taking you all the way back to 1968 in a fictional recreation of New Orleans called New Bordeaux. In the game you will play as Lincoln Clay, who is an orphan and Vietnam War veteran on an epic quest to take down the Italian mob using his new crime organization.
Gameplay
You will control Lincoln Clay through a third-person perspective, and you will be free to explore the reimagined version of New Orleans since this is an open world action-adventure title.
By its very nature, Mafia III is a violent game. However, players will be able to take a stealthy approach to complete missions without engaging the enemy. This is something a lot of newer games are doing, but seriously, how many of you are going to avoid poppin’ a cap in one of those Italian mobsters for an entire mission?
There are revolvers and shotguns for those of us who plan on eliminating our enemies from existence, as dark as that may sound. It’s just a game, chill…
Gameplay will involve you taking cover and engaging in melee-combat from time to time. The cover system allows you to move quickly to cover and avoid getting shot, similar to how you take cover in the Gears of War series.
Information is very important in this game and you’ll be able to interrogate non-playable characters after you knock ’em around enough. Learn more about their objectives so you can take down their organization, makes perfect sense right?
Oh, and we recently found out that you will be able to get information regarding where they’re stashing their cash. You will make money by taking down enemies, and even recruiting racket bosses to make money for you. In a new trailer, we see you can get $2k for taking down the enemy, or $4k for recruiting him.
Completely overrun the Italian Mob’s locations and assign one of your lieutenants to hold down that same spot, this is how you will take over the city of New Bordeaux in Mafia III.
But wait, why is Lincoln Clay so obsessed with taking out the Italian Mob in the first place? It all starts with a set up…
After returning to New Bordeaux from Vietnam, Lincoln is inducted into the black mob. His first assignment involves him working with Giorgi Marcano, who is heir to the Marcano crime family. They were supposed to work together to rob the Federal Reserve but instead they’re ambushed by Giorgi’s crew, leaving all the leaders of the black mob dead, and Lincoln with a bullet in his skull… almost dead.
He is saved by a priest named Father James, and from that point on he sets out to rebuild the mob and take down Marcano once and for all.
In the game you can use your money to buy weapons and car upgrades. There are some explosives too, such as C4 and grenades. Everytime you die you will lose a good amount of cash, unless you call in the consigliere to come pick up your cash and put it in a safe spot.
Recommended PC Specs:
Like most modern PC games, you can expect Mafia III to require a high-end gaming rig. The recommended specs won’t come in a low-end PC so you may want to consider getting the Xbox One or PS4 version if your computer can’t handle it.
Processor: Intel i7-3770 / AMD FX 8350 4.0 GHz
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics: 4GB Video Memory / NVIDIA Geforce GTX 780 or GeForce GTX 1060, AMD Radeon R9 290X

Conclusion
Mafia III is launching for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 7, 2016. After launch, 2K Games has confirmed there will be both free and paid DLC expansions.
Overall, it looks like a solid game and a big improvement on the series’ previous titles. It’s very exciting to see a re-imagined New Orleans and the open world is actually based on a large collection of old photographs to depict a similar world. The city is altered, but the developer did this for the better, as they wanted to make the open world suitable for high-speed chases.
