For those who aren't in-the-know for Marvel Comics, the ugly character to the left is Deathlok. Deathlok (not to be confused with Dethklok, of Metalocalypse fame) is a "half-robot, half-zombie guy" as described by (Ultimate) Spider-Man, who has had numerous solo series that ended with a very convincing level of failure. Well, if the metaphor isn't setting in, I'm getting at a likeness between the ever-struggling notion of the Deathlok, who just never seems to be able to get his feet his robo-feet through the door and the now-cancelled Marvel MMOG.
That's right. There will be no Marvel MMOG. In a series of moves by Marvel in what seems to be an attempt to consolidate the licensing of its iconic characters, Marvel burned its bridges to Microsoft, ending the development of a Vista-360 exclusive MMOG based upon the legendary Marvel universe.
Not too long ago, Marvel ended its agreement with EA to develop a sequel to the much-maligned, by both Marvel fans and gamers, Marvel Nemesis fighting game. With two deals with big names in the gaming industry getting brought down, it certainly seems as if Marvel has something in the works. This is all speculation, of course.
