So far the Xbox 360 has not received a great following in Japan which is not necessarily surprising as Sony and Nintendo have been dominating the gaming market in Japan for many years and Microsoft is having trouble breaking the barrier. Even without the hardware problems that have plagued the Xbox 360 since it's release the console has always struggled in Japan. Microsoft, though, has a strategy as to how to attract interest among Japanese gaming consumers: offer more RPGs. According to officials who run the Japanese branch of Microsoft Japanese gamers prefer RPGs more then any other kinds of genres. Only time will tell if this strategy will allow the 360 to take a firmer root in the Japanese gaming market where Sony and Nintendo have the home court advantage.
