Gametap, a leading provider of online games and other media, announced yesterday that it's latest chapter in the Myst universe has been opened to the Mac users everywhere in addition to it's latest content. In cooperation with TransGaming Inc., who provided the Cider portability engine which makes PC games able to be played on the Intel Mac OS, the owners of Macs can join the same universe which has been enjoyed by the users of PCs. This will also change the update scheme for Myst Online: Uru Live as content will now be uploaded at the same time for PC users and Mac users. Truly, now, there shall be harmony..and perhaps even an end to those commercials. Ricardo Sanchez, the vice president of content for GameTap, stated that “"Myst Online: Uru Live has been the number one game on GameTap since its launch in February," and that “"So we are thrilled this new audience can experience GameTap's original content." Vikas Gupta, the CEO and President of TransGaming Inc, added that “"Traditionally, Mac users have been very strong supporters of the legendary Myst franchise. We are very excited to be working with GameTap to bring this title back to that group of core fans.”
This comes on the heels of a new world opening in the land of Uru, a land filled a pod once used by the D'ni, which is set into a jungle that seems to have acted as a place where the fauna could be observed without disruption, but there is still much to be explored in this world. The world of Dereno, an artic world that also contains another D'ni pod for players to explore. Rand Miller, the creator of Myst Online and CEO of Cyan Worlds, had this to say: "We're excited that as the Myst universe continues to expand online, so does the accessibility to our unique world. Many of the original Myst fans were Mac users, so for GameTap to reopen the door to this audience really means a lot to Cyan on a personal level."
