Nidhogg 2 (Switch) Review
Still a fun game
Split Joy-Con support for multiplayer mayhem is a blast
I prefer Nidhogg 1’s visuals over the sequel but still drip with personality
Nintendo Online account required to play online (just like Xbox Live or PS+)
Now on Switch
In mid-2018, Nidhogg 2 made its way onto Xbox One; Nidhogg 1 was a PS3/Vita exclusive. Now, Messhof has ported their tug-o-war fencer to Switch.

Thing is, this Switch version plays exactly like the Xbox/PS4 version only without Achievements/Trophies. It does, however, allow for some heated local multiplayer battles thanks to split Joy-Con support; the hardware works perfectly for this style of game. Online multiplayer is still available but users will need a Nintendo Online account to participate.
Regardless of the platform, both the original and this sequel are ridiculously entertaining games. Thanks to simple controls, addicting just-one-more-round gameplay, and a visual style that drips with personality, Nidhogg 2 is a game that shouldn’t be missed.
