According to Nintendo’s official Twitter account, Miiverse will be ending November 8, 2017. The cancelation of this service all follows Nintendo TVii, Wii U Chat, and even the shutting off of the original Wii and original DS’s wifi connectivity. The canceling of all these services will allow Nintendo to focus on the Switch, keeping the 3DS alive, and (hopefully) being able to crank out more SNES Classic consoles.
If Wii U users try to access Miiverse after November 8, 2017, they will probably get the error code of “115-5004” and 3DS users should see the “015-5004” error code. The “102-2882” error code will pop up if TVii or Wii U Chat is accessed. However, keep in mind that Nintendo shut down the TVii functionality for the American market a couple years ago.
For those of you who might not know, Miiverse was Nintendo trying to be all social on your ass. Users could post screenshots of games and make comments to eligible titles they played on the 3DS and Wii U systems. Honestly, I didn’t think it really made a whole lot of sense and only used it a couple of times. I mostly just used it to log in once a week to earn easy MyNintendo coins but this will obviously change when the service gets shut down.
What do you think? Sad to see this service go? Do you even care? Let us know.
