For older folks like myself, it's hard to imagine that the Xbox 360 was unveiled almost seven years ago. Seriously. Seven years. That absolutely flew by. Well, even though the 360 was the first console out of the gate last generation, it seems like the big wigs are not at all rushed to make this the case again.
Microsoft recently stated that there would be absolutely, positively zero talk of a successor to the Xbox 360 at the upcoming E3. Those excited are encouraged to not hold their breath for the Xbox 720 (or whatever its name proves to be) as they state there will be no talk of the prospective console “anytime soon”.
In part, this comes as a surprise. With Nintendo set to start pushing the next-gen Wii U and even start talking about release dates and launch titles it seemed as though Microsoft would, at the very least, start building hype for their inevitable next-gen console. However, it seems as though Microsoft is going to cede the first-mover advantage to Nintendo.
