Just like the new 360 Charge Station the Wii version promises to fulfill all your Wii-mote battery needs.
The Nyko Charge Station for the Wii comes with the following: one dual port charging dock, 2 rechargable battery packs, and 2 rubberized grip battery covers.
Installation is very easy. Simply plug in the rechargeable battery into the back of the Wii-mote then snap on the rubberized grip cover. Once everything is in place, place the entire Wii-mote onto the charging dock station. One or two Wii controllers can be recharged at the same time. Then just plug the charging dock power cord into the wall. Installation is mindless and even young children can figure it out.
While charging, the indicator light on the bottom of the unit glows the same soft/futuristic blue that the Wii normally glows keeping the aesthetic theme consistent. If you only charge one Wii-mote, the average charging time is about 2-3 hours while charging two units at once will take about 4-6 hours to fully charge. This is a very small amount of time to wait considering that you can get about 20-25 hours of play time on a single charge. And just as a side note, it may take about 3-5 charges to fully charge the unit.
Overall, the entire package has a very sleek design that looks great with the white shell of the Wii system and controllers. Even when the controllers are docked, they can generate that “oh, cool” look sitting on the shelf right next to your system. The blue indicator light is very bright and let’s all viewers know that this product was specifically created for the Wii. In fact, the look of this product is so well designed, you would think it was a first party peripheral. And when the batteries are fully charged, the blue light turns into a bright green. Thanks to the 6 foot long power cord, this unit should be able to comfortably reach any power plug nearby.
Another subtle positive aspect of this charge station is the fact that the user never has to remove the batteries ever again. This makes charging all the more convenient. And taking it one step further, the user doesn’t even have to remove the wrist strap as the charge station accommodates for this slightly extra space.
The rubberized grips really provide that extra support that the standard battery cover does not provide. With many instances of Wii-motes flying out of users’ hands and breaking TVs and causing injury, this extra grip should help eliminate some of those problems. I noticed that it even seems to reduce sweat build up as well.
For $29.99, this product can save you money from buying costly batteries. Additional batteries and multicolored grip options are available for $9.99 through Nyko’s website.
Continuing on Nyko’s tradition of providing innovated options for gaming systems, this Wii Charge Station is one sweet product. This is the one product that will eliminate all battery needs for your Wii system. If you are a Wii user, especially owners with multiple Wii-mote controllers, you must purchase this product.
Just like the Xbox 360 Charge Station, this product gets a big time thumbs up.
