Paramount Pictures has reached an agreement to aquire the worldwide film rights to Midway’s [i]Area 51[/i] game franchise. The newest edition of the game is slated for release early next year on the Playstation 2 and Xbox game systems. Christine Peters will be working together with the game’s developers to make the film, which be an action-packed thriller.
“[i]Area 51[/i] brings some of the most cutting-edge technology to the gaming world,” says Peters, who has also worked on “[i]How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days[/i]”. “Bringing the game’s riveting and suspenseful concepts to the big screen will be an exciting motion picture breakthrough.”
Donald De Line, President of Paramount Pictures and Vice Chairman of the Motion Picture Group, couldn’t agree more. “We are delighted to be working hand in hand with Midway Games to translate this innovative game into a provocative film. We look forward to bringing all the excitement gamers will feel playing [i]Area 5[/i]1 to theaters everywhere.”
[i]Area 51[/i],the game, will also feature the voice talents of notable celebrities such as David Duchovny, Powers Boothe, and Marilyn Manson.
