Nippon Ichi, makers of the amazingly niche Disgaea games, recently announced that they will be bringing the most recent addition to the series Prinny: Can I really be the Hero to America this February. A 2d action game “Prinny” seems to closely resemble the Metal Slug series in the way that the play is handled, including over the top action and unforgiving difficulties. For fans of the Disgaea universe it is also worth noting that Etna, leader of the Prinny squad, is also making a sizeable appearance in the game.
Disgaea became a cult classic several years ago when the first game crept onto the PlayStation 2 and has since sold enough copies, through various reissues, to become a greatest hits title. Prinny: Can I really be the Hero brings one of the series most notable characters, the Prinny (a penguin with peg legs and murderous intent), to the forefront and allows them to have an adventure of their own for the first time. While the game doesn’t seem to single out any single one of the Prinnies it does seem to note that there will be over 1000 lives for the play to use for the entire course of the game. That probably means the game is either really long, or super difficult, and knowing Nippon Ichi it may be both.
