Rock Band Catalog Hits 1000 Songs

While people have been tripping over themselves to label all sorts of compilations as the "best value in gaming", probably the best came out back in 2008, in Rock Band 2.  The game had 85 songs on-disk, could import almost the entire Rock Band 1 soundtrack for a measly $5 and had massive DLC support.  That support has hit a true milestone, with the total number of songs that you can play in Rock Band 2 hitting over 1000.

The number is calculated by adding together the song lists from Rock Band 1, Rock Band 2, Lego Rock Band, the AC/DC Live Track Pack and the hundreds of songs up for purchase in the Rock Band Store (this does not include The Beatles: Rock Band, which cannot be exported to Rock Band 2, regrettably).   When you consider that these songs can all be played in Rock Band 2, that is a true accomplishment.  It is made more impressive when you consider that its competitor, Guitar Hero, had under 900 songs available in its entire history, which includes multiple handheld spin offs and hundreds of songs that cannot be brought to recent installments of the game.  This was also a factor in the relatively low score given to Guitar Hero 5 in our review.
