There are very few companies in the world that can get away with announcing the release date and pricing of their game less than two months before launch, Harmonix is just one of the few people that can do so, as they announced today that Rock Band will be 170 dollars for the PS3 and 360 on November 23rd, the Friday after thanksgiving. The PS2 version will be out on December 10th and be 160 dollars.
I guess one way to make sure that you sell out of your game on day one is to cut the price from what originally leaked from your company, and then have the street dated on black Friday.
