Uphill Rush 2 throws all the excitement of the web-based game to the iPhone. It is a side-scrolling single player racing game viewed in landscape mode. You can zoom around loops and do 360s in the air on a variety of vehicles including motorbikes and skateboards. Collecting coins and getting good race times allow you to upgrade your means to suped-up bikes and rocketboards.
The controls are simple on-screen buttons to speed up and slow down with buttons to angle your player up or down to achieve tricks. The controls seem a little stiff and often during jumps you can lose your bearings. Since not landing a jump properly leads to a restart at the checkpoint, the game can often seem very start/stop. The short look ahead distance doesn’t give you much chance to see what lies ahead, and you may find yourself crashing often.
At this point every game on the internet has an iPhone version available. Only a buck, so no big investment here. Play the online version and if you really can’t live without the game on your iPhone dig deep into those pockets and bust out a dollar.
