In an infringement case brought on by Immersion, Sony has been ordered by a federal district court in California to halt sales of PlayStation, PlayStation 2, two game controllers and 47 software titles. They were also ordered to pay $90 million in damages.
Sony has stated that it disagrees with the decision from the court and would be appealing to a higher court. The suspension of sales will not be going into effect before the appeal but Sony will be paying compulsory license fees to Immersion.
The claim states that Sony has infringed on Immersions technologies by creating a game controller that vibrates in sync with actions in games.
