Sony Pictures to helm Metal Gear movie, looks into other gaming properties.

While most news on the highly rumored, yet barley announced Metal Gear Solid film has been non-existent, it was confirmed today that Sony Pictures will be at the helm of the series big screen debut.

"We're working with the Metal Gear guys. It's a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie telling," said Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Yair Landau in a recent interview with Gamespot.com. "The Question is, how do you translate Snake's experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?"

The game-to-film adaptation was first revealed at E3 06, via a discrete pamphlet distributed by Studio Kojima, the Konami owned development house headed by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. No other information is currently available on the product.

Landau also revealed that the studio is looking into bringing several other gaming properties to the big screen including an EverQuest film and possible sequels to the Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises.
