Julio Torres, Producer of the MMO Star Wars Galaxies will appear on G4?s ?Attack of the Show? tonight at 7:00PM eastern. Mr. Torres will answer fan questions regarding recent changes to the SWG universe, many of which have angered long-time fans and players of the game. At issue is Sony Online Entertainment?s decision to change the fundamental character advancement system the game employs.
In November of 2005, Mr. Torres said in an [a] http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Announcements&message.id=2929[aa]official post to the SWG message boards[/a] that their decision was based on several factors, chief of which was:
? Over the past year we have been working hard to respond to feedback we have gotten from players, fans, focus groups, and other research. This feedback has ultimately centered on one key area: the game does not feel like a heroic Star Wars experience. Currently, the early game has a steep learning curve and there is no clearly defined path of advancement or adventure. Many of our fans who bought the game did not see enough Star Wars style action early-on and ultimately left our world. It is our goal to change this and improve the experience for all players.?
Since the change, many players have reported extreme dissatisfaction with the state of in-game affairs, have reported massive profession imbalances and server depopulations, etc. Mygamer.com will follow this issue and report on Mr. Torres comments on Tuesday.
