Steam is having a sale on some games. Here are some highlights:
Divine Divinity
**** **
Steam re-releases a blast from the past with Divine Divinity, one of the leading RPG games of it’s time. While it may be a bit retro for gamers that are used to Skyrim, what the title lacks in fancy 3D graphics, it more than makes up for in playability and fun. And isn’t that what a game is all about? Much like Diablo 2, it has a huge world to explore, thousands of items to interact with, potion mixing, spellcasting, character classes and development. One thing is for sure. You won’t lack for adventure and combat in this well rounded title. No wonder it was listed as one of the 100 top PC games of all time. Warning though: It could cause lack of sleep, addiction and relatives and friends wondering if you are okay. Ah, the joys of gaming. And you can start your quest as the Chosen One at Steam for only $5.99 for Divine Divinity, which is definitely a steal.

Tryst
** **
BlueGiant Interactive brings us Tryst, a very interesting real time strategy game that looks as good as it plays. In a world where both sides worked peacefully together, something has come between them and war has broken out. What the Overseer and the Rebel leader must determine is why, if they can keep their units alive long enough to find out. The game features both single and multiplayer scenarios. The former sees you in command of a group of customizable and unique units that serve as the strike force for the mission at hand. In the 8 person multiplayer, it’s a matter of survival in guarding against this new found enemy. What is interesting about this game though is decisions made have consequences, which may not be apparent at the time, but alter the course of history as the game progresses. This adds a lot of replayability to Tryst due the various branches that certain choices can lead you on. Oh and be careful of the scenery. It’s not always what it seems. This one isn’t out until September 14, 2012, but those that pre-purchase the game from Steam will get access to the beta right away. The prices, which are currently 20% off until August 28th are $19.99 for just the game, $23.99 for the game and the future DLC’s, and $47.99 for a 4 pack so you can involve three of your friends.

A Virus Named Tom
** **
What happens when the scientist that invented all your technologies for the future world is fired, layed off, given the boot? Why he gets mad of course and creates A Virus Named Tom. And Tom is going to show all those people who doubted his creator just what havoc can be placed on their lives when their common conveniences like robot dogs and transporters and such no longer work the way they are supposed to. You infect the circuits by moving Tom around a grid that has all sorts of protections travelling the grid with you. The idea is to spread the virus while stealing energy, avoiding traps, etc in this fast paced arcade puzzle game. Local Co-Op allows 3 other players to help you on your quest, or hinder you as the case may be, and there is a battle mode for when you want to see who can be the best virus out there. You can start infecting electronics today by going to Steam and handing out $11.99 for the game (and if you want, and additional $2.99 for the Soundtrack DLC). With 100 levels of single player and 50 multiplayer ones, we’d say that is a pretty darn good deal indeed.

Deponia: Welcome to the Junkyard
** **
Rufus wants to help a woman return to the world of Elysium. There is only one thing standing in his way. Everything. If you love or even like ****** Monkey** **Island****, you’ll love this adventure. It has all the charm, humor and just the right difficulty of puzzles to really shine from a company that has been likened to LucasArts of Germany. Just the love story alone rivals that of GuyBrush Threepwood and Governor Elaine Marley, which means that it’s pretty messed up, but funny nonetheless. Graphics are TV quality and the voice acting well done. So what more could you ask for? A
bologna sandwich? It doesn’t come with that, but it is an awesome game and you can get it at Steam for $19.95.

Awesomenauts
** **
When conflict strikes in the galaxy, when there is no where else to turn, who do you call? No, not the ghostbusters. The Awesomenauts, an elite squad of fighters that will get the job done in this action platform multiplayer game. Teamwork is really the focus here with 3 on 3 action common either by other live players (online or offline) or the AI (which jumps in immediately if someone leaves). Players can choose to fight as
any one of the 8 different characters, each possessing its own skill sets, but a ton of customized options (150 to be exact) will allow each to be configured for anyone’s playing style. Fighting is done on a 2D scrolling platform which serves as the backdrop to the various environments like space ships, alien worlds, etc, and it can become incredibly chaotic, but gamers should love the fast action that this one has. Awesomenauts is available at Steam for $9.99 for the single game, $19.99 for a three pack, and $11.99 for the game and the soundtrack (or $2.99 for just the soundtrack). Players of Team Fortress 2 will also get an Awesomenauts badge, a lone star, and Russian rocketeer for that game if they order before September 5th. So don’t hesitate. Start your mission today.

ClaDun x2
** **
With the resurgence of 8 bit type graphics comes ClaDun x2, which will bring older players back to their roots in the RPG realm, this one is purely about hacking and slashing and customizing your character and the latter has a lot to it. You can add a whole number of skills and weapons, but the neatest thing is that you can actually paint your own character. That’s right, if you want a warrior that looks like a duck, you can. The retro feel will appeal to those of us who remember back to the good old days when games relied on mechanics rather than what they could wow us with visually and many will appreciate its old school charm. ClaDun x2 is $19.99 at Steam.
