Keeping with their remake/reinvention philosophy, Square-Enix is dusting off another classic and putting it on the PSP in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Bringing together developers from other Square-Enix products like Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII and key members from the original Tactics Ogre team, they plan on rebuilding this classic from top to bottom.
Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together will get an awkward new name, a complete visual makeover with a new artistic style. The game will also come with new battlefields, rendered in 3D. The soundtrack will feature fifteen new compositions, with remixes of the classic tunes. While the game will follow the original’s story, expect to experience it in an entirely new way. New characters and Battle Skill abilities will allow the player to have near endless character customization options.
Square-Enix has had quite a bit of success releasing their older library on today’s handheld market, and this game will also feature tweaks to the gameplay. There’s been a lot of fan demand for a new Tactics Ogre game and while this isn’t entirely new, those of us who missed out on the original will at least get to experience it with a new coat of paint.
