Have you ever played that game where you tangle rubber bands around your fingers and have to untangle them? The Plateau is like the iPhone version of that, only with cool visuals and ambient music. It’s a very basic yet very complex game in which you must unravel orbs attached to each other by lines which cannot intersect. The gameplay is simple but the production value is high.
If this game lacks in content it makes up for it with style. The artwork is polished and the colors are vibrant. The animation while minimal is fluid and responsive. The soundtrack is mellow and slightly eerie but suits the contemplative nature of the game. While the game will most likely be played without sound, you may just want to listen to it at night to help you float off into space as you dream. While some apps feel thrown together, this one seems the game runs smoothly and feels like a well-designed application. No glitches or faults in the programming were detected.
The game offers 50 levels of play in either Challenge mode or Arcade mode which adds a time limit to the action. The levels are designed with an “advanced AI algorithm” ensuring the puzzle is always different. You can also create a login that keeps track of your score online and can even interact with the free version playable on the interwebs.
The Plateau is a good example of a polished mobile game. The gameplay is straightforward yet has depth and difficulty. The design and movement of the app is polished and artistic. At $4.99 the game is priced slightly higher than other games offering the same amount of actual game content, however you are paying for quality and a game that was produced well both in looks and functionality.
